On September 28, Koen Sizoo, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Shanghai, and his delegation visited Sugar Energy for an in-depth symposium with our technical and market teams.
As a European frontrunner in circular economy and bio-based materials, the Netherlands has long established a robust value chain spanning "biomass feedstock – platform chemicals – recyclable polymers – end-use applications." During the visit, both parties held fruitful discussions centered around our full industry chain layout of HMF-FDCA-PEF and explored pragmatic paths for Sino-Dutch industrial collaboration.
Our talks focused on three key pillars:
Upstream-Downstream Synergy: Connecting Sugar Energy’s 12,000-ton production base and 2,000-ton scale continuous 5-HMF supply capabilities with the Netherlands' profound expertise in terminal application development and eco-standards.
Carbon Footprint & Energy Efficiency: Consul General Koen Sizoo took a keen interest in our Daishan 5-HMF base operations. We discussed how strict carbon metrics and energy-efficient processes serve as vital "entry tickets" for sustainable materials entering the European market.
Bridging China & Europe: Leveraging the Dutch Consulate’s economic and investment departments as a strategic gateway to support Sugar Energy’s global expansion and international network.
This visit marks an inspiring beginning. Sugar Energy remains committed to extending our HMF-driven product chain, partnering with global leaders to transition bio-based materials from "technically feasible" to "scalable and usable."
