Zhejiang Sugar Energy  Technology Co., Ltd. successfully completed the world's first 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) production line. The production line has achieved continuous and stable production. The whole process is smooth. Order delivery to the top ten European companies has been completed. The success of this project has laid a solid foundation for the low-cost large-scale production of HMF, and will drive the development of Polyethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate(PEF) , 2, 5-Furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA),2, 5-Furandimethanol(FDM) and other downstream derivatives production process.

HMF is one of the important bio-based platform compounds. Through chemical reactions such as hydrogenation, oxidation, esterification, halogenation, polymerization, and hydrolysis, it can be used to prepare a variety of functional intermediates and aromatic polymers, stretch starch, cellulose, The value chain of biomass resources such as sucrose and seaweed.
